Nice to Meet You

I decided to change my career from Recruitment to Web Development nearly five years ago. At the time I was working at Topshops HQ on Oxford Street and I loved my job. However I decided I wanted to learn something new, I had always loved everything digital and was fascinated by how things ‘worked’ so I thought I’d try and learn how to code!

I enrolled at General Assembly’s Web Development Immersive course, had the best twelve weeks of my life and have never looked back! Learning everything from JavaScript, Git, SASS and also how to present code, how to work as an Agile team and build a career. I loved every minute of it.

Since graduating from the course I decided I wanted to stay within the fashion sphere (you can take the girl out of retail but you can’t take retail out of the girl) and I’ve been lucky to work for amazing brands like ASOS and Net-a-Porter. I’ve been part of agile teams, delivering amazing experiences for users, from microsites for L’Oreal and Nike at ASOS, to re-building the Outnet Editorial pages at Net-A-Porter.

In my spare time I’ve been fortunate enough to talk on a panel for ‘Women Who Code’, deliver talks to schools as part of ‘STEMgirls’ and regularly lead on coding workshops at General Assembly’s London campus.

Having spent some time freelancing over lockdown, whilst becoming a new mom, I’ve learned so much more about how I work, my strengths and my adaptability.

I’m happily back at ASOS, enjoying being part of a large tech team, taking advantage of all the wonderful knowledge and opportunity!
